![]() ![]() Obsession takes different shapes in the society because people have different experiences. ![]() Theories of Desireĭesire in this context is used to describe the obsession that people have in the society. It is argued that desire in Antigone is greater than the confines of men and laws. This paper takes the modern approach in referring to the relevancy of the play by critically giving an insight on the perspectives of the theories of desire. Nonetheless, other quarters are of the view that Antigone presents nothing to be thought about in the modern hence dismissing its relevance to modern interests and applications. Indeed, scholastic interest and analysis explain the relationship between Antigone and the modern political, controversial and conflict laden times. It has been observed that, as a point of fact, the play has been an obsession in the 18th century to date. Chief among the discussions in the play revolves around theories, obsessions and new perspectives of the classic play. ![]() Antigone continues to draw interests and literary debates in the postmodernism era.
